Installation
|
The default installation
has been sped up. In addition, a network installation wizard
helps you install AutoCAD on a network, install the Autodesk
License Manager, and set it up for push/pull distribution
to network clients.

Configuration Options
|
All of the AutoCAD configuration
options have been consolidated within the Preferences dialog
box. The settings that you specify are stored in the Windows
system registry.
+ On the Files tab, you can specifies the
search locations for support files.
+ On the Performance tab, you can optimize
the performance of AutoCAD.
+ On the Compatibility tab, you can specify
general operating preferences relative to the behavior of
previous releases.
+ On the Display tab, you can specify AutoCAD
display options, including drawing and text window parameters.
+ On the Pointer tab, you can optimize the
performance of your mouse or digitizer.
+ On the Printer tab, you can configure your
current printer (Settings are stored in AutoCAD configuration
file).
+ On the Profiles tab, you can to customize
the AutoCAD environment for a specific user and to set up
multiple-user environments.

Network Printing
|
You can now configure AutoCAD
directly for network print queues during configuration. When
configuring a hard-copy device, enter n for network when prompted
for the type of port to which the device is connected. You
can also choose to configure AutoCAD for multiple plots using
the batchplt.exe utility.

File Sharing
|
AutoCAD now uses the Windows
operating system for sharing files, eliminating the old DWK
system of file locking.
|
|
Network License Manager
|
AutoCAD licenses can now
be shared (or "floated") over a TCP/IP-enabled network. You
can install the License Manager software and tools using the
Network Setup Wizard. For more information on networking,
